Huseyin Leblebici passed away


Dear colleagues,

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our editor Hüseyin Leblebici. He passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, in Chicago.

Hüseyin Leblebici completed his undergraduate studies in METU in 1969 and continued his academic life in the USA. He earned his MBA degree in 1972 and Ph.D. in 1975 from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. He was a regarded scholar, a great mentor, devoted teacher, and a dedicated servant for the academia all around the world. His work has been published in leading journals, including ASQ, AMR, Organization Science and SMJ. He served as a reviewer and editorial board member in prominent journals of our field. He started the Journal of Professions and Organization at 2014 and our journal JMOS at 2016 as founding editor.

In addition to being a respectful researcher, Hüseyin Leblebici has also served as Head of the Department of Business Administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign for ten years. He always stayed connected to Turkey. He was an Honorary Member of TUBA (Turkish Academy of Sciences) since 2012. He contributed to the establishment of some of the leading universities in Turkey and served as founding members of scientific organizations such as National Management and Organization Congress and Organization Theory Workshop. He has contributed to the development of young academicians through courses and seminars at different universities. He invited many researchers from Turkey to the University of Illinois and showed his guidance on their research projects.

We will all remember Hüseyin Leblebici as a kind, dedicated, and insightful mentor.
